Each room is quite spacious with heaps of room. The girls room is filled with 5 bunk beds — so maximum of 10 girls! The girls and the boys each had their own bathrooms as well. It was a nice experience because you felt as though you were a part of the family.
The school is beautiful, in the middle of nowhere but very different to what I was used to every day back at home. And this was exactly what I wanted — a different lifestyle to what I was familiar with.
It really was such a joy to see so many students. And the best thing was, they were all very appreciative that I felt almost at home! The students really got excited seeing a camera for the first time — especially being able to see themselves on a camera!
It was soo cute. These were some of the best memories in China. I remember on my last couple of days, none of the female students wanted to let go of me! I really did struggle happily around the playground while I had like 3 or 4 girls on one side! It was sad at the same time cause I knew my time to teach these kids and be around them was coming to a close.
One of the teachers asked me to come along and watch the students practice for their dance classes. These kids really work so hard. I remember waking up at 7am to go outside and listen to the anthem, being one of the biggest struggles! Their playground is huge for a village school. For sports, these kids have to go for a jog around the field at least twice. Another of 2 teachers which I grew to be very close with and till today, still try to keep in contact with.
